A sudden change of orders sends terraforming engineer Bill Wltham to the backwater planet Dilbia. His new orders are simple: teach the planet's bearlike inhabitants the basics of techno-farming. But the instant he makes planetfall Bill knows something is very wrong. The resident human is missing, his pretty youn assistant has been kidnapped, and the Dilbians want nothing to do with techno-farming. And then, to make matters worse, a very large Dilbian named Bone Breaker challenges Waltham to a duel that will determine the fate of the entire planet.
