I was just reading the thread regarding a woman who had inadvertently left some newspaper clippings in a book she'd mailed.  I mailed a book not too long ago and while packaging it I remembered it came with a DVD (supplemental guide for the book), so I put it in a paper sleeve and inserted in the front cover.  Did I break any post office rules regarding media mail mailing?  I put the correct amount of postage on it which included the extra weight of the CD.

Thanks, Laurie

No rules broken. DVDs are media and can be mailed at the Media Mail rate.

Here's the link to the section of the Post Office Manual that refers to Media Mail: http://pe.usps.gov/search/jsp/search/vv_docread.jsp?k2dockey=http%3A%2F%2Fpe.usps.com%2Ftext%2Fdmm300%2F173.htm%40PE_DMM300_HTML_5&serverSpec=56.0.145.56:9920&QueryParser=Simple&querytext=%28media%3CAND%3Email%29&dtype=2#hit0

Thanks Mary.  I noticed your signature states posting directly to your WL.  How is that done?

from the Help Center (I checked because I used to know how things worked here, but lately some things have changed!)

If you have a book that is on someone's personal Wish List, then all you need to do to offer that book directly to that member (and NOT to the first person on the Wish List) is to go to the member's Wish List and click the "Post This Book" button there.  Be sure the ISBN on your book matches the ISBN on her Wish List!

  • Your book will be offered to that member first, no matter where she is in the Wish List for that book.
  • If that member does not request the book, it will then be offered to the first person on the wish list and continue to be offered until someone requests it or until it is posted into the general library.

ETA: the words because the graphics I pasted didn't appear!
