This beautifally photographed and well planned combination cookbook and history book is a gem. The history of the home, Kenmore, in Fredricksberg, Va, is facinating by the sheer fact that George Washington's sister, Betty, and her husband, Fielding Lewis, lived there, and George was a frequent visitor, and dinner guest throughout his adult life, as well as Mary Ball Washington. The recipes are authentic, but modernized for the "today" cook, and are very palatable. The recipes offer regional diversity. You will also find here many well-known chefs' and restaurants' choice dishes which have been adapted for your family's kitchen. Finally, you will find the famous "Kenmore Gingerbread" and "Kenmore Fig Conserve" recipes.
