This is a lot of fun and a good read when Christmas rolls around again.
Ok, some stories outshine others, some you gotta wonder why or they just might be your type of story. 20 stories, including Charles Dicken's "The Haunted Man." Not as good as Scrooge, however there is a story by James Morrow that's worth reading that updates us on Scrooge and how the ghosts actually might have messed up by turning Scrooge around. Lupoff's "Snow Ghosts" keeps going back in time. Swanwick's "Midwinter's Tale" is a solid first encounter sci-fi story. Hawthorne's "Unawares" is a short but real (heartwarming - read sad) ghost story. The funniest story in the book is Cox's "But Do You Recall" about Twinkle Lane Exorcisms (Yule Ghosts Our Specialty) taking on the Big R, "...but I'd been hooked by her haunted eyes and those peekaboo gums." Perhaps the most haunting story in this book is Williamson's "O Come Little Children". If that Santa's not real, then why is my son wanting to sit on his lap and talk to him? Oh it don't go that way ... it twists back another you least expect! not a 5-star book, but you will find something in here if you like ghost stories for the holidays.
