Does anyone know of or have a possible list of 'sports' themed romance books? A girl I know is looking for this particular themed book and I can't for the life of me think of any except for the Nascar series by Harlequin.

Carly Phillips has some that revolve around sports but can't think of the name. I just read a set of 3 where 2 dealt with Nascar though not a whole lot of it in the books-they were by kimberly raye. Susan Elizabeth Phillips has one with a football player but not much mentioned about the sport..think it's called nobody's baby but mine and there are another 1-2 books related to that one but no sports in those I don't think.

thanks for the link Alexis..I bookmarked it!

Rachel Gibson has a few books with hockey players. Pamela Britton has a series of books about NASCAR that I believe is not the Harlequin series you mentioned.  Pat White has some books out that involve pro-wrestling. Luanne Rice has a book about a hockey player who's losing his sight. I can't remember the title but it was good.

The Carly Phillips series is  "Hot" (Hot Item, Hot Number, and one more I can't remember) 3 sisters that are sports agents.

I really like the Deidre MArtin Hockey series.

thanks for that great link :)

Hey, books involving hockey? I've never read one of those. I think I'll check it out... But never mind me. I saw this post and wanted to contribute the books I've come across over the past few years that had a sports theme. I'm debating on whether to put anything about the book. Well, I suppose I will, just in case.

Susan Elizabeth Phillips has the Chicago Stars/Bonner Brothers series. It first starts with It Had to Be You, in which the heroine inherits a football team. But it comes with strings.
Then next in the series is called Heaven, Texas. A player from It Had To Be You copes with the loss of football due to an injury.
Nobody's Baby But Mine comes after that. It has the heroine, an insanely intelligent woman wanting a baby. However, she wants the baby to be fathered by someone dumb. Somehow she comes to choose a football player from the Chicago Stars football team.
The books that follow the rest of the series are Dream a Little Dream. This one is about the brother of the hero from Nobodyd's Baby But Mine. Just thought I'd put that here, even though the hero nor the heroine has anything to do with sports.
After Dream comes This Heart of Mine. It involves the sister from It Had To Be You, who gets entangled with the star quarterback of the Chicago Stars.
After that is Match Me If You Can followed by the last book in the series, Natural Born Charmer. Match Me is only about the sports agent for a couple of the players from the Chicago Stars. Natural Born Charmer is a fresh new QB, but it's the off-season, so you don't see any football action.

Phillips also did a book involving a golf player. I think it was called Lady Be Good, but don't quote me on it. Very entertaining. If you saw the movie Happy Gilmore, you'll wonder like I did if that's where they got the premise for their movie.

Kasey Michaels also did a two-book series involving two brothers. The first one is called Love to Love You Baby. The hero is a former star baseball player that went out because of injury. It's a hilarious book that I thoroughly enjoyed. But not too much sports in it. And the sequel is called Be My Baby Tonight. I've never read it, because I totally forgot about it until now. From what I know, the hero in this book is a catcher for some pro baseball team.

There is also a title called A Game of Love by Carol Bogolin. It involves a 24-year-old woman who joins a men's minor league baseball team. I can't say this book was a particular favorite of mine, but I did enjoy it.

Another book that has a sports heroine is titled Number One by Donna Huxley. I don't remember much about this book, but I do remember it has a heroine that deals with a devastating injury and her struggle to return to the game of golf.

Another title I thought I'd throw in is called The Aristocrat by Catherine Coulter. It has the hero, a pro New York QB inheriting an estate, a title and a fiancee all from a distant relative in England.

Finally, this last title is one I happened to come across just now. It's called Honey by Stef Ann Holm. The Barnes and Noble synopsis seems to indicate that the heroine offers the hero, a former baseball star, a chance to play on her father's team. Hmm. I might just check this book out.

Okay, that's all the titles I can remember, though I'd say that is enough. Er... I hope I didn't go overboard!

Natalie B.

P.S. I forgot about the NASCAR books, but I think everyone else has mentioned Pamela Britton and the Harlequin NASCAR series. :)

The Stef Ann Holm book is pretty good-- there's a series of books, all starting with H, Hooked (about fishing), Hearts (I think he was a boxer, she was sporty), and Harmony-- he may have owned the sporting goods store.  All "Americana historicals", so that;s also something different.

I also loved the Rachel Gibson books, especially See Jane Score, but all of her hockey ones are good

Catherine Coulter's "The Aristrocrat" features football.

"Brant Asher is an American football star who has just inherited the title of Viscount Asherwood. In order to inherit the house as well as the money, he has to marry Daphne, his VERY distant cousin. The problem is that neither one ever wants to marry, especially not each other. Afterall, he's an American and rude and has no manners. She's very English and stiff laced and proper."
