I run up the stairs, running from someone who loves me, Running to someone I love. The lights are shining bright at the top of the Acropolis, Blinding me, hiding from me the love of my life. I hear a scream from behind me, Warning me of the dangers of the unknown. The scream from above is barely audible over the scream from below. I trip over an unknown object, An object determined to keep me from the arms of my only love. I keep running, dragging the object on my ankle. It slows me down, but I keep fighting. Fighting for the right to choose the one I love, No matter how hard it may be. I get closer to the top and His voice is calling out to me, Drowning out his voice from below. I can see his arms, ready to enclose me in an unbreakable embrace. The voice from below is gone. I run the last few steps, The unknown object falls from my ankle. Our fingertips touch, then our hearts, then our lips, sealing our fate. A fate we do not mind being bound to. |
