Esme is the oldest daughter of Phillip Coromina, designated heir of the family corporation. The father is evil and cruel, totally ruthless and incapable of love who uses his daughters to secure profit and career goals. During his 300-year long life, he created, terraformed and controlled four planets. Now he has incurable glazamia, a wasting disease, and is dying. He wants to see all of his daughters, three of whom, Adrienne, Daphne and Isabel, are estranged from him.

Fulfilling her father's last wish to find her sisters, Esme longs just to see them and make amends. He, on the other hand, wants them to release their claims on the company. Esme's search for the sisters is a key focus. Flashbacks to events of different time periods help the reader understand what happened to make the sisters part ways. As the story unfolds one discovers that DNA of a life form, the Radiance, provides the soldiers strength and abilities. Unknown to the sisters, samples were taken without permission from the youngest daughter, Isabel, whose mother died from a flu initiated by the Radiance. To obtain her DNA, the father told them she had a sexually transmitted disease. When Esme uncovers and reveals his lie and actions the three younger daughters disappear. Esme remains as she believes she can change the company from within when she becomes CEO.

This is a fascinating sci-fi novel with a family story, space battles, and attacks by aliens, the book has a complex plot, controversial characters, and compelling writing. It's a most satisfying read set against in futuristic setting.
