Sometimes with books about other worlds and realities, it's hard to visualize but the author makes you see and the characters are very likable.
Nyssa has curious holes in her memory as well as the ability to leave her body and travel back in time, but ghosts plague her. When the aloof executioner Abrial is directed to bring Nyssa to Cadalach, he jumps at the chance but soon finds himself falling in love, and the couple faces a journey fraught with danger. The FBI, Humans Under Ground, goblins, ghosts, and a hobgoblin are all on their trail, not only in this world but also in the dreamlands.
From the description in the back, I didn't expect to like this book much. I started it and did not emerge until the end. Unlike many serial books, you don't get lost trying to figure out family trees and you're given just enough background to understand all the players. Characters from past books are intriguing just enough to make you look for their book and not bore you.

A new danger has entered the world and it affects humans and goblins alike. The race is on to see which will gain control on this ultimate weapon, or if the fey will get there in time to stop the madness. If they are to triumph Abrial Nightdemon will need the help of Nyssa Laszlo, a woman with a dark and deadly secret.

All of Melanie Jackson's books are very different in the "Other World" group. Good storytelling.

A nice read, part of Wildside series. I would have liked to get to know the characters better, but they were still well written.

From the back cover:

"THE SHOW WOULD GO ON..

Snippets of a forgotten past were returning to Nyssa laszlo, along with the power to project her mind. Each projection thrust her into a glowing still life of color and time, and her every step led deeper into undiscovered country. Things were changing, and dangerously so. She was learning who she was - whether she wanted to or not. She was also learning dark things were on the rise. From the Unseelie faerie court to Abrial, the dauntless dreamwalker who pursued her, the curtain was going up on a stage Nyssa had never seen and a cast she couldn't imagine - and it was the final act of a play for her heart and soul."
