It's 1937, and in 14-year-old Roger Cannon's eyes, his whole life has been one big mistake. From the minute he was dropped off at the dismal Greenhaven Orphanage at the age of 4 to every single time he's hit a baseball through the snarky headmistress's window, things haven't exactly gone in his favor. Everything before the orphanage always draws up a blank, and life had turned out to be extraordinarily ordinary. But everything changes when a mysterious man comes to Greenhaven. When the man's back is turned, Roger stumbles across a slip of paper that had fallen out of the stranger's coat, with specific instructions to eliminate him. He hardly has time to read it, though, before the man returns. Roger is forced to flee the orphanage. Also dragged into the mess is 15 -year-old Jefferson Carter Wesson, otherwise known as J.C., an emotionally scarred new arrival at the home and Roger's assigned roommate. They're thrown into a world that's struggling with the great depression, and they take to riding the railway trains that travel the country, living as hoboes. On their journeys they meet many, like the tough, hardy and experienced teenager, Liam O'Malley, the red-headed Molloy siblings, Molly, Sigmund and Cyrus who illegally immigrated from Liverpool, the eccentric, ditzy and flighty Lucille Lexington, her cousin, the mysterious, insecure daughter of a wealthy Banker, Charlotte Montigue, and many more. Facing hired assassins, unforgiving railway cops, starvation, gangs of toughs, adolescence, love, and the unsolved question mark of his family's legacy, Roger's mission is simple; stay alive.

You're the first person to actually post their story summary. Now you just have to write it! Good luck.
