I love to hear about people's unique pets, my husband once had a sloth, and he would hang in the closet during the day and run around the house at night!

We have 3 chickens, and I am attempting to get them to like me, I cuddle with each of them for as long as they will tolerate it almost everyday.

Soon we will have 2 sheep, their job is going to be mowing the lawn, and I may try to do something with their wool, because they will put out black and white wool.  Jacob sheep have spots like cows !

I have rats, if they're considered "weird". Just two, these days (both very antisocial rescues that came out of a hoarding situation), but I've had as many as 14 at once in the past. They really do make excellent pets, though they can be freaking expensive with health issues (mammary tumors and respiratory infections, especially).

Or kittens has an upper respiratory infection and we went to the feed and seed and got some penicillin and gave them shots, I'm a fan of self vetting, but then again I wouldn't tackle a tumor, but giving them shots ourselves cuts down on the vet bill big time.

Do Tribbles count? LOL.....
I've got... uh, last count - 13.

Yeah, if you know Tribbles, just be careful how much you feed them.   <wink>

The Trouble With Tribbles is kind of like what my pets are. LOL I have Chinese Cresteds, The original Potato Chip dog. You can't have just 1 !!!! I have 6 currently and there's always room for more!

We've had Chinchillas, Cockatiels, rabbits, hampsters, mice, anoles and I can't remember what else. I will stick with the Cresteds now.

Kathi,

You aren't kidding!  I know that I have told you before, but I have a Powderpuff Chinese Crested.  My husband wants to get a hairless Chinese Crested next.  I told him that you had six and he said that you must never have a dull moment in your house.

As for other pets in the past we have had chinchillas, hamsters, iguanas, fat-tailed gecko, boa constrictor, bearded dragons.

I have a hermit crab (Mr. Crabs) and he's weird in the fact that he frequently molts. Since crabs bury themselves when they molt, my husband jokes that it's very economical if he chooses to die :-P

I've also had flying squirrels and they can be quiet a handful!

LOL Linda!!  I suspect some of these gals are *way* too young to know a Schmoo! ;)

Now, I just have dog, cat, snake, aquatic turtle , and feeder goldfish.

I have had in my life:

Multiple digs, multiple cats, a racoon, multiple snakes (none venomous), salamanders, anoles, Sea Monkeys, tadpoles, giant Madagascar cockroach, a huge praying mantis, toads, mice, gerbils, hampsters, guinea pig, a deer, a wood duck, rabbits, a hedge hog,  aquatic crabs, hermit crabs,  a garden spider, land snails, aquatic snails, all sorts of fresh water fish, a cockateil, a parakeet...hummm...probably more - I will have to think!

I feel pretty tame after reading all the other responses in here.....I have 3 rats one of which is pregnant and 2 cats. But I am "Aunty" to 3 other cats and 7 dogs. No not all 7 dogs live at the same house.  I don't want to live with a dog unless it is an older rescue so I am aunty instead. I get to spoil them and babysit them but then I can go home. My cats do not gang up on me and try to lick me to death.....lol

What about ferrets? would they be considered strange? I have 10 of them now. Had 13 at the beginning of the year.

My most unique pet is an upside down catfish.  They swim upside down, thus the name.

Is a wolf and 6 snakes considered weird? I don't think so.

Have a great week!

I used to have a couple Crested Geckos.  Even people who generally hate reptiles thought they were precious.  Here's a few pics for those unfamiliar with them: http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=crested+gecko&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi&oi=property_suggestions&resnum=0&ct=property-revision&cd=1

Now I only have 2 cats (one is my avatar pic).  I had a ferret years ago and am thinking of getting another one.  If I had the space for it, I'd have my own personal zoo, but curses on these town statutes.  LOL

In total, we have 2 turtles, 1 pygmy goat, 5 Arabians, 1 Quaker parrot, 1 Heinz 57 dog that someone dumped, 1 German Shepherd, one barn cat, one house cat, and one white-tail doe.  I think that is it...  In past have had rabbit, flying squirrel, lizard, gerbils, hamsters... oh, ferrets, too...

each have their own special personality... and their dislikes/likes with each other... one horse might like one cat and not the other, the doe likes our German Shepherd but will have nothing to do with Lady our Heinz 57 pup.

I have only one dog adopted 2 years ago and 2 purple claw hermit crabs, Georgie, CJ (Crazy Joe) and Clinger, respectively. My crabs only molt about once a year now as they are older. We just added my daughters cat, Julius along with my daughter and grandaughter. Have had some exciting moments recently (ha ha). The dog might be a puggle, who knows.
