Just received a book I had been waiting for. Book is very readable but chock full of LONG human looking hair. It took about a half hour to clear the hair from between almost every page. I've had it in a bag with a Lysol cloth to make sure nothing else was in the book. Weird.

I got a book last week that had a hairy dust bunny in it-yuk. The book was in great condition but that skeeved me out.  I'm sure many of my books have arrived w/dog hair.

I had one arrive with greasy orange thumbprints on every other page -- you could see where they'd been holding the book and reading with one hand while eating ... something ... at the same time.  My husband daringly sniffed to see if he could tell what was so orange and tasty, but couldn't figure it out.  It wasn't a cookbook, either -- blech.

I have really long hair (down to my butt) and I make sure I don't send out any books with hair in them - actually, I've never really had a problem with hair getting in my books.  That's just really weird.

Okay, a couple of dog hairs, yes.  I have rec'd books like that.  But one in nearly every page.....and LONG black hairs at that.    Someone would almost have to place the hairs there intentionally.  Ewww....

People hair, no.

Luckily my SO isn't a jealous nut. I did have to explain where the long hairs were coming from. He said it was a pretty fishy story until I showed him the book.

"I had one arrive with greasy orange thumbprints on every other page "

I betcha that person was eating cheese curls or something along that line.  Would you consider this book repostable with those stains on the pages? I received a book in similar condition, but it was only a few pages in the middle of the book that looked like someone was eating while reading. I would hate that I can't repost this book because it's on someone's WL.

That is bizarre.  While I have long hair and shed, as does my cat.. There is often a hair or two that get stuck to the tape when I am packaging books, but I have never had a hair actually IN a book.  That does sound deliberate... and quite strange.  I do feel bad about the extraneous hairs that get into the tape while I am packing.  I hope none of the the people getting the packages have been too wierded out.

The orange stuff was probably Cheez Doodle fingerprints. I've mentioned this on the forums before - my husband will not go near library books because he claims that every time he opens one, there's Cheez Doodle fingerprints inside.

I wonder if people use money for bookmarks....Now that would be nice to find in a used book!

o.o that is crazy, deffently sounds like someone deliberatly did that.  I work at a thrift store and we commonly get items that people have delibertatly done stuff to just to try and gross our employee's out, is very sad.  I dont understand why some people take pleasure out of doing this *shrugs*.

LOL--I sometimes get a cat hair under the tape too!  With three cats there's plenty of it around.

Wow that does sound intentional.

I too have long hair, I work around books all day and I can pretty much count the number of times I find a stray hair or two in donated books.. But if it took that long to take them out then I think they had to be put there on purpose be it book marks or just as a joke.  I knew a friend that would insert a hair into a book as a way to see if her sister then tried to read that book.

Just gives me the shivers and thoughts about head lice *shudders* Can we add a "please no hair condition"?

I got one with, I think, cat hair, it's as tho the book was open and the cat was on that one page.  Just filled with cat hair.  Almost like it was gathered and then placed between those 2 pages.  Very odd.

I had to laugh about the cat hair on the tape - my one cat likes to chew the tape and I have to shoo her away every time I wrap a book and most times I get at least one cat hair under the tape!
