This was another good read. Though not quite as witty as Donna Andrews cozy mysteries (her bird series in particular since those are the only ones I've read so far), these have a good story and mystery to them nonetheless, which always keeps me on my toes. In this book, I was able to deduce some of who might be involved early on, but the whole thing didn't fall into place until the end, thus keeping me in suspense.

Book #2 in the Hannah Swensen Series.

Much to her mothers chagrin Hannah seems to find herself once again right in the middle of a murder mystery.

The ever popular owner of The Cookie Jar in Lake Eden, Minnesota, Hannah is asked to serve as a judge in a dessert baking contest, unfortunately one of her fellow judges is found dead with one of Hannahs Strawberry Shortcakes so of course she feels that she should at least try and find out who did it.

Hannahs sense of justice prevents her from letting Boyds abused wife take the fall -- even though Boyd is a man that deserves to be deadso with the help of a returning cast of quirky characters that make Lake Eden a very interesting place to live, Hannah leads the readers on a tour of Lake Eden, and its inhabitants, but first she needs a cup of coffee and chocolate.

The second book in this series. As Hannah goes about finding out who killed the high school coach she also continues to bake cookies and include her recipes. Very good story

This is an autographed copy.
Hannah has the honor of serving as head judge of the first annual Hartland Flour Dessert Bake-off, which she anticipates will be good advertising for her already popular bakery, The Cookie Jar. Then one of the judges, high school basketball coach Boyd Watson, is found dead, face down in Hannah's strawberry shortcake, and suspicion falls on Watson's abused wife, Danielle. Determined to prove Danielle's innocence, Hannah ignores the warnings of romantic interest Mike Kingston, the supervisor of detectives at the Winnetka County sheriff's station, not to get involved.

Eden Lake, Minnesota, has been chosen as the site of the Heartland Flour Dessert Bake-off. Bakery owner Hannah Swensen was named the head judge for the contest. High School Basketball Coach Boyd Watson is one of the other judges. Shortly after the contest, Boyd Watson is found bludgeoned to death. His wife, Danielle, who was abused by Boyd for years, is the number one suspect. Hannah doesn't believe that Danielle would hurt anyone and sets out to prove that she is innocent. Hannah questions people who were close to Boyd, learning that there was more than one person who wanted him dead.

This is a cute cozy mystery with lots of suspects. I enjoyed watching Hannah and her sister, Andrea, sift through evidence a piece at a time. I also thought some of the recipes used throughout the book sounded delicious. My rating: 4 Stars.
