great light funny read. Hannah Swenson is a great heroine. I love this series cant wait to get started on the next one in the series-The Blueberry Muffin Murders Very highly recommended for fans of the culinary/cozy mystery lovers!
This was another good read. Though not quite as witty as Donna Andrews cozy mysteries (her bird series in particular since those are the only ones I've read so far), these have a good story and mystery to them nonetheless, which always keeps me on my toes. In this book, I was able to deduce some of who might be involved early on, but the whole thing didn't fall into place until the end, thus keeping me in suspense.
Much to her mothers chagrin Hannah seems to find herself once again right in the middle of a murder mystery.
The ever popular owner of The Cookie Jar in Lake Eden, Minnesota, Hannah is asked to serve as a judge in a dessert baking contest, unfortunately one of her fellow judges is found dead with one of Hannahs Strawberry Shortcakes so of course she feels that she should at least try and find out who did it.
Hannahs sense of justice prevents her from letting Boyds abused wife take the fall -- even though Boyd is a man that deserves to be deadso with the help of a returning cast of quirky characters that make Lake Eden a very interesting place to live, Hannah leads the readers on a tour of Lake Eden, and its inhabitants, but first she needs a cup of coffee and chocolate.
Hannah Swenson serves as head judge of Lake Eden, Minnesota's first annual Dessert Bake-Off, but she turns detective (again) when fellow judge, Coach Boyd Watson, is found dead. Hannah stirs up trouble when she snoops into the coach's private life. Second in the series.
This was a fun, quick read. This was the first book that I had read from this series, and while it won't probably win the Pulitzer, it does keep you interested until the end. I especially liked how the author included the recipes that the main character cooked up throughout the book.
Lake Eden's Coach Boyd Watson is discovered dead, face down in Hannah's famous strawberry shortcake. Hannah snoops into the Coach's private life to attempt to discover who came up with the latest recipe for murder.
If you like Janet Evanovich's books, you'll like Joanne Fluke.
When the president of Hartland Flour chooses cozy Lake Eden, Minnesota, as the spot for their first annual Dessert Bake-Off, Hannah Swensen is thrilled to serve as the head judge. But when a fellow judge, Coach Boyd Watson, is found stone-cold dead, facedown in Hannah's celebrated strawberry shortcake, Lake Eden's sweet ride to fame turns very sour indeed.
I really enjoy The Cookie Jar series with Hannah Swensen, Moishe, Andrea, Lisa, Bill, Mike, and Norman in Minnesota. Coffee and mouth-watering cookies are always in the story. This copy is in very good shape without affects from any of the seven delicious recipes included.
Story holds you throughout the 308 pages.
A cozy mystery with recipes.:-)

I am enjoying this series of books although I thought the writing could have been better.
