An easy, fun book to read. Written in a very "southern style". The characters were realistic and relatable. Maggie's been out of high school for 20 years and has spent those years trying to please everyone else; now she is starting to wonder why. The story was well told and fast paced. Great light reading for the beach or vacation.

I really enjoyed this delightful story! From the time she was a little girl, Maggie Sweet has longed to become a hairdresser. But she gets married right after finishing beauty school, and it seems her life is passing her by without giving her a chance to realize her dream. Until her high school sweetheart moves back to town.....

Just wonderful!

Note: This is the paperback version. The book was re-released in hardback in 2001 and titled somply "Maggie Sweet".

Maggie Sweet's story is both sad and tender. It all starts when, just before her 20th high school reunion, Maggie's husband spends their vacation money on side-by-side cemetery plots. From there Maggie decides to re-invent herself, Southern style.
