I did not want to like this book. I bought it at a buck-a-bag booksale and left it sitting on my shelf for months. I picked it up out of boredom, and then (sigh),I couldn't put it down. I thought about it while I was at work, I read a page or two at stoplights, and I found myself turning off the American Idol finale just so I could finish the book. This story is different from what I have been reading lately--sweet and memorable. It reminded me of the best of Dorothy Garlock, with that little underlying edge that only Kleypas could write. I found myself caring about Liberty, Hardy, Gage, Churchill, and Carrington more than I have cared about other characters since I read my first Kathleen Woodiwiss book. 4 Stars!!
This is a very well written first contemporary for Lisa Kleypas. I enjoyed all the characters and loved the plot.
You root for Liberty and Hardy from the get go..and then the twist will leave saying "Why?"
Can't wait for Blue Eyed Devil...next in the series
