A friend's son and his wife recently had a baby. The baby had to be taken almost a month early by caesarean due to the mother's high blood pressure issues and the young mother is really having a bad time of it with postpartum depression. I know that Brooke Shields and Marie Osmond have written books on their experiences with it but was wondering if either one of those or perhaps a different author has a book that would be of some help. What are some of the better ones? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

Thanks, Gayle! Great info! I picked up a copy of Brooke Shields's book this morning and will give it to my friend for her DIL. I know she is very worried about her and hopefully the book will be of some help---at least she will know that she is not the only one feeling the way she does and she will be able to get though this in time. |

I found that I liked Marie Osmond's book much, much better than Brooke Shields' -- in fact, I would not recommend the Shields book to someone suffering currently. Another great book for post partum or other depressive disorders in women is Womens Moods by Deborah Sichel and Jeanne Watson Driscoll. I would HIGHLY recommend it. - Tracy |
