Really a very interesting historical look back on the 1949 baseball season, mostly focusing on the Yankees verses the Boston Red Sox. It includes thoughts on all the important players on both teams including DiMaggio and Williams, and some lesser known but important players; notably Dominic DiMaggio, Joe's brother who was on The Red Sox. It also goes into discussions about the owners and coaches of both teams, sportswriters of the times, Toots Shor, the restaurant owner and other interesting characters. If you like historical baseball books, you will like this book. Also, I am female, and I love this kind of stuff, so it is a good read for both sexes who like baseball!
