I've been a member for a while (over a year) and I have no complaints.  My received books are always in very nice condition some alot better then I expect.  All have had all their pages too.

I'm not trying to make fun of those of you who have had problems, I just want to say I've been blessed and get good books.   I truley enjoy PBS.

Same here, Ruthie (that' was my grandma's name!). I have also been blessed with great books, and do everything I can to make sure my books are as good as the ones I get. I don't even dog-ear pages anymore. I use bookmarks.

I've had mostly good books, too. Sometimes when I get a pristine hardback I am awed that someone wanted to trade it.

I also have gotten great books.  Alot of the  books are in next to new condition.  I also do not dog ear anymore.  I'll use what ever is handy as a bookmark.

I've had no complaints on the books I've received and only one on a book I sent.  The person who got the one I sent, couldn't have been nicer, and I returned her credit with a smile.   Wonderful place and for the most part = wonderful books.

I have had over 1,000 books go thru the door in my house, either from PBSers or to them. I've had one complaint against me. Gave her her a credit for the book before anyone could even read her post about what she should do (it was a box trade, and she had questions and I just happen to be at PBS looking thru the posts just moments after she posted).

I've received 2 water damaged books, got my credit back for one, the other was in a very excellent, very large box trade, and the book wasn't too bad, so I read it, and gave it away.

I received 1 book with some pages completely loose in the middle of the book, that I missed myself when I first checked the book in, then a couple days later, I found them. It again was a box trade, and we had some more books on each others shelves, so we just did another box, and she sent me a replacement book!

I've had 2 boxes that I believed truly went lost. One I told the person to not worry about, the other did a second box with. Oh, and I had one book in  credit trade go lost coming to me, and one going out.

The loss of books total, adding PO lost and damage loss, is about 10 books. That is really nothing I could possibly ever complain about, even if my next 10 trades were totally water logged!!! (Now that doesn't mean everybody should send me their water damaged books! hahahaha)

I agree, the amount of bad books, just isn't enough to be ranting and raving about, but the number of great, fantastic people on here is! Yay!!! I love PBS and all my friends on here!!!

I'm with you guys. I've received over 900 books since joining PBS two years ago (and have sent out just about as many) and have only received two that I had to mark "received with a problem." Most have been in perfectly acceptable used condition and many, as others have said, in nearly new shape. Just yesterday I received an almost-new hardcover copy of Finn by Jon Clinch in the mail and it just amazed me that I was able to get this book for one credit...the price of postage.

There have been a few 'lost' books going each way, but the percentage is very low.  It's certainly not enough that I feel a need to use DC with all my transactions--usually just HCs or multiple-book orders get that now, and that's 'cause I've got to run them to the PO anyway...so may as well get a scan and a quick credit and support PBS a little bit.

I know there must be a few people out there trying to pass off nasty, unpostable books, but I've just not encountered them. And if I did, I'd mark the book "received with a problem," send a PM to the person sending and hope for the best. If we diligently report those problem books, R&R will weed out the baddies for us.

Happy trading to all!

Cheryl

This is a great place to trade books.  I refuse to let a bad deals turn my head.  I'm here as long as PBS is.

I went through a couple of periods where I was receiving a ton of water damaged and/or moldy/dirty books.  It was beyond frustrating!  But as I hung in there, things evened out, over time.  My "bad book" rate is about 6% or less (I haven't calculated it in awhile).  This is still the most awesome place to get books, by far!

The funny thing is, one of my box books that I sent is still traveling. I PMd the person and offered to replace the book and she said not to worry about it!

My books are great too!  I just got two NEW (seriously, not necessary bcs I just want to read them) hardcovers from my WL yesterday. In perfect condition, and one is recently-published and had a huuuuge WL.  Never thought I would get that book this fast.

I am at 5 unrepostable (but not unreadable) books for 300.  Fine with me!

I have only had 3 books come so far with PBS and have been pleased.  On travel book was in really great shape which made my hubby happy since it was for him and he is far more "particular" about his books.   I did think for a sec about putting conditions on my profile so that books I order for him come in good shape, but have decided that I am OK with taking the gamble that most PBSers will send decent books so far I am 3/3.  Its nice to hear that some of you founding PBSers have gotten so many good ones with very few bad apples.   I also found it intersting that some of the other forum posts say that the people who did send bad books eventually leave/get removed from the group.  I think this site is such a neat idea and so fun.  Given that there are 30,000+ members, I have to keep in mind that at any time there might be some irresponsible people out there who send yucky books, but I would say book people are in general more responsible that most.

Thanks again to PBS for such a neat site!
