This is from my good friend Anna - ___________________________ Hey Jessie, I finally got the second national LGBTQ survey up and going and will be presenting the findings at a political science conference in New Orleans this January. I was hoping that you and Greta would fill it out and then send it out to all your peeps who also identify as LGBTQ. I can't wait to see you in SF in a couple of weeks! Love ya! Anna Details below... ____________________ You are invited to participate in an academic study examining the social and political attitudes and behaviors of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) individuals. As not much is known about the LGBTQ population in the United States, it is important to capture attitudes and behaviors in order to determine if there is indeed a distinctive culture that has the ability to wield social and political influence. Unfortunately, past studies have been geared on the attitudes towards this group, and not actually of the LGBTQ population. Because there has been very little research done in this area, your participation is incredibly important. After you have completed the survey, we strongly encourage you to forward this survey to your friends, family, and acquaintances that also identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer. The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. Click here to begin survey Or paste this link into your Internet browser: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=KEN2HtTDZGr_2fX1unwOzKrQ_3d_3d The researchers conducting this study are a graduate student of political science at California State University, Chico and a doctoral student of political science at the University of New Orleans. The survey is conducted online with tools in place to ensure that your answers are completely anonymous. Your identity will not be disclosed to anyone, including the researchers. Your participation is completely voluntary and you may skip any questions that may cause you emotional distress, or end the survey at any time by simply clicking on the End Survey link. There is no material benefit for participating in this survey. Please feel free to conduct the researchers with any questions or concerns you may have regarding this survey. Thank you in advance for your participation! Anna R. Ball MA Candidate, Political Science California State University , Chico aball6@mail.csuchico.edu Robynn M. Just want to double check. I read your post, then I read the intro of the link you provided. If I am straight, am I supposed to fill this out? I would like to do anything I can to support the research, but I don't think they're looking for my opinion. If I'm wrong, I'll go do the survey. Thanks. |

Thanks everyone! There is a question that asks for sexual orientation and 'heterosexual' is one of the options so yes, Julie, if you have the time then fill it out! |

Thanks everyone! My friend is really going to appreciate this. The last bunch of information she collected via survey was turned into a paper/presentation for the Annual Meeting of the Urban Affairs Conference in Seattle, WA in April of this year. It was called "Creating an Ecosystem of Tolerance: The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Population in Urban Regions".

I did the survey. I like the bi-curious question. NO one knows. Well, almost no one. |

a little delayed, but done! (i'm new) |

That was really interesting, although I commented at the end that some of the questions presupposed that the respondent was LGBTQ and didn't provide a "not applicable" option, while others did...could skew/bias the results a bit...can you tell I've taken a class in survey design? ;) (Yep, there's one in every crowd....) Regardless, I'll be interested in seeing the results! |

I finished it last night - just forgot to say! Jesse - if your friend thinks of it - it would be interesting to see what their results are. |
