I know I could & should be posting this over there but I have tried reading the boards over there & it seems like they really get into theories & percentages that I just cannot understand.  So I thought Id ask here lol.  I just joined swapacd, Ive been a member here at pbs since Jan & everything here at pbs seems so easy!!  While SACD seems sooooo complicated.  First off, you can have an unlimited wishlist there?  Thats sooooo unfair.  lol  And second, why do you have to have $$ in your SACD account to get a cd when you dont need that at all over here on pbs?  And third, the wish list there is SO CONFUSING!!!  You have to rank your wish list?  And I dunno about you guys but when I try to go on my wish list & rank my cd's, it wont work, it goes right back to the order that I wishlisted them in.  For instance, I only have Green Day cd's for now on my WL over there but I want American Idiot most & it wont let me list it as my number one request.  Why cant we just go FIFO over on SACD?  Can anyone please explain, if so PLEASE PM me with details!

Originally, the SACD wishlist was limited to 20 CDs and it was FIFO. I would have been all for a limit of 100 CDs and keeping FIFO. I think that R&R thought it would be fairer to newer members to have the ranking instead of FIFO. It definitely makes things more complicated and causes some people to overthink the whole thing (hence the theories and percentages). As for the money, the processing fee helps them to pay for the site. It must cost them a small fortune to run both SACD and PBS, so I really don't mind the 49¢ fee per CD. For your wishlist troubles, make sure you have them sorted by Rank and not by Position (or any of the other choices). The buttons to do that are at the top of your wishlist. If they still won't stay how you want them, then you should contact R&R to get it sorted correctly.

Thanks Jerri.  Maybe I am just stubborn but why do CD wishers get an unliimited WL?  Id much rather have an unlimited book WL.  LOL   But I just dont get why I have to pay 50 cents to get a cd, I mean I WILL of course, but why is it that way?  Isnt a cd cheaper to send than a book?  I thought the whole premise of pbs & sacd was sharing freely, I dont use or have credit cards so needing to "buy into" sacd for $5 makes it harder than pbs is.  I will have to buy a prepaid cc just to get $5 on sacd.

I don't like the ranking system there, too.  I'd rather have it work just like PBS (and don't mind the .49 charge overall).  I very rarely get CDs there - maybe three since I've joined a year or so ago.

I hope SwapaDVD won't be a ranking WL either.

The SwapaCD fee protects the folks against damage since CDs are somewhat fragile. It means that the Requester will immediately, without having to go through the Sender,  have their credit returned if a CD arrives cracked, scratched or damaged. After receiving a couple like this, I don't mind the fee, especially if it helps R&R offest the site cost.

So far, SwapaDVD doesn't have any fee but it does have a ranked WL.

As a beta-tester for SwapaDVD I can tell you it does have the ranking system for wishlists.  And there will be no fee for SwapaDVD, but cases will be required, which I think is a good thing.

I never signed up for Swapa CD.....I just am not into a specific CD much-and I can borrow from my daughters, as we, believe it or not have similar tastes in music and if I reallt want my own copy og something they have, I can burn a copy. Give me easy listening type music, and I'm happy.  I am looking forward more to the Swapa DVD more...and if a swapaVHS ever gets going..............!?

I used to use SwapaCD, I didn't like it too much. It's not popular so it takes forever to get a CD. That fee you pay guarantees that you will get your CD. If you don't receive your CD, it does not work, or is the wrong one they will refund the fee and the credit. At PBS you don't get your credit back for damaged books  or wrong books unless the sender decides to.

The whole WL thing is crazy. When I joined we were only allowed 10 CDs in our WL and had an unlimited RL. They then changed to the unlimited WL.  The unlimited WL was helpful because I could put all versions of a CD in my WL to increase my chances of getting it. The downfall of the WL was the ranking system. Some say its great but I say its unfair. I watched myself jump in front of people week after week.

I left because I got what I wanted and did not want to wait anymore for anything else. I will just download stuff or buy used online.

I think how much you will like the site depends on your taste in music.

Try dropping and dragging items in your Wish List.  It took me a while to catch onto that.  It doesn't work when you change the numbers yourself.  Once you get used to that, it's cool.  But I completely about the ranking system.  It makes it more difficult to use -- at least it's difficult for me to use.
