It was an okay story but tended towards unbelievable most of the time. There was a German Priest who was at Hiroshima when it was bombed and he wrote of his experiences. He certainly did not move about with the ease that the characters in this novel did and he wore a military uniform for just that purpose.

If one is a WWII fiction reader, this book fills a niche that I haven't as yet discovered written about - the period of time just before the atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. Three soldiers are chosen because of their profiency in German to pose as German priests. Their mission is to warn the Catholic community about the impending danger. The personalities of the three are revealed while the story takes on many twists and turns. During the story, one wants almost to jeer or cheer the antics of the commanding structure of the military at that time.
