As Russell Stevens sees his parents off on their European vacation, he's looking forward to a lazy summer filled with volleyball, surfing, girl-watching, and hanging out with his buddies on the beach. And when Russ and his sister, Leslie, receive a fire-engine-red sports jeep as a joint high school graduation present, he can't wait to start cruising the California coastline.
But the first time he takes it on the road, Russ manages to completely mangle the jeep. His parents will kill him if they find out about the accident - and so will Leslie unless he can raise enough cash to pay for the repairs.
