Imagine that you are a teenage girl, the only child of your widowed father. Naturally your only parent would become your whole world, but what if that world was a lie? Precocious and creative, Terri doesn't understand why she and her father never stay in one place for long or why they have no family other than each other. Eventually though, she comes to realize that her father is hiding things from her - things that will change her reality.

"Taking Terri Mueller" is a poignant, engaging mystery appropriate for ages 12 and up. There's no sex, violence or profanity that I can recall, but the story itself is mature and at times, intense. I first fell in love with this book at 10, and now as an adult, my only complaint is that it was slightly shorter than I hoped it would be.
