The story of a man who finds himself the unwilling guardian of a wild child of mysterious parentage. They love each other, but resent each other for the weakness and vulnerability that love creates. Great story, and great characters that mirror the struggle Scotland went through after Bonnie Prince Charlie's defeat at Culloden Moor.

Since this is a 70s "bodice ripper" there are some un-PC elements that might turn off readers more used to modern historicals: Cameron, the heroine, is only 14-15 during the course of the book and acts on her sexual urges with reciprocation on Alex's part; there is a lesbian scene, rape/forced seduction, and physical violence.
