...a pregnant saloon singer with no memory of how she got that way. The shy beauty was in desperate need of a protector-and Tanner was convinced he was the man for the job. Now, if he could just convince Angelena..
Though she somehow knew her name and that music was her life, Angelena had no idea where she came from, or what she was doing in Edgewood, Texas. With a baby on the way, Tanner's offer of marriage seemed like a godsend, but how could she let the handsome sheriff take on the reponsibility for a past that she knew nothing about?

There's something reassuring about re meeting characters from previous books; it is nice to see how people have grown and managed in their world. Thus, it was delightful to see Wes Tanner again. He's the adopted son of Rosemary and Gabriel Tanner (from THE BACHELOR TAX).

Wes is now the sheriff of Edgewater and doing well at it. When he goes to hear the new songbird at the Golden Slipper, Wes is mesmerized by the beautiful young singer. He's instantly interested in the woman and becomes protective when he finds she's confused about her past (ho-hum, I hate amnesia cases).

Wes tells Angelina that he's lest interested in her past than her future with him. When he finds out that the young lady is going to have a baby and doesn't know the circumstances, Wes worries that he cannot accept another man's child. Gabe sets him straight about Rosemary's insistence that Gabe accept Wes and his sister in order to marry him.

This is a fine story in spite of the amnesia. 4 stars
