A romance is inside a true story -- of a violent twister that occurred on March 18, 1925. Interestingly, this story is about how the town came together and put their lives back together after devastation and death. The author spends considerable time explaining the grit and gumption of the citizens.

There was nothing particularly remarkable about the story of a teacher coming to Oakton, Missouri. Emma Larson went to this town because her grandmother seemed to be developing dementia (according to the neighbors). Emma was alone (her parents deceased) and looked forward to living with her grandmother, Ruth.

The town doctor, Jesse Baxter, is a widower with a 6-year-old son. That son is not handling his mother's death well, and Jesse is contemplating remarriage to solve his son's problems. Tommy is a disruptive child -- at home and school.

The author gives more insight into the Twister of '25 (at the end). Overall score = G+.
