I really like all of the designs that are included in this book. I did not always use the colors that were suggested, but the earrings were still beautiful. Some of the diagrams were a little difficult to follow because some of the symbols seemed to run together. The directions for making the earrings were easy to understand, and the pictures were very clear. It seemed to me that alot of the designs were kind of the same. Otherwise, it is a great book, and I would recommend it to any beader!!

After relocating a few miles from Reservation of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians, I became interested in beading. This was the first book that I bought. The information in this book and the simple designs made it easy to teach myself.
These earrings and/or pendants are made with seed & bugle beads, and some with porcupine quills. The brick stitch (also known as Cheyenne or Comanche stitch) is used. The first step is to make a base row in the ladder stitch, usually made with smaller bugles. The upper upper portion is done next in the brick stitch. The bottom fringe is made last with seed beads and/or larger bugles/porcupine quills.
There are color photos of the finished items, and B&W graphs for each of the projects. To make the graphs easier to read, I put a color dot in the respective areas to match the colors required.
If you are into modern-styled jewelry, this books is not for you. But if you'd like to try something new and different, I highly recommend this book for hours of enjoyment!
