Crunch crunch crunch. Teeth can help you chew. But teeth are not for biting. Ouch! Biting hurts." Sooner or later, almost all young children will bite someonea friend, a parent, a sibling. This upbeat... more », colorful, virtually indestructible book helps prevent biting and teaches positive alternatives. The companion to our best-selling HANDS ARE NOT FOR HITTING board book (see page 9), TEETH ARE NOT FOR BITING gives reasons why children might want to bite. Little mouths feel sore when new teeth come in; sometimes kids bite when theyre hungry, tired, cranky, frustrated, angry, bored, distressed, or seeking attention. Author Elizabeth Verdick suggests positive things children can do instead of biting. Like chewing a chewy toy. Drinking a cold drink. Getting a hug. Telling a grown-up. Asking for help. And smiling because while teeth are not for biting, they definitely are for smiling. My 21 month old son really loves this book. He calls it, "Teeth No Biting" and I think he's really gotten the message that teeth are not for biting. It really presents the message in such a positive and age appropriate manner.
