The author shows how ten errors in modern thought have led to serious consequences in our everyday lives. He explains how these misconceptions came about, how we can learn to avoid them, and how we can retrain our minds to counter their negative effects. These mistakes include: identifying happiness with having a good time, denying there is any distinction between the human mind (with conceptual power) and the animal mind (with only perceptual powers), the error of identifying free will with something that happens entirely by chance and other errors. Dr. Adler wants to help everyone have a richer and happier life by reminding us of ancient truths that should be preserved.
