Gives a real eye-opening account of what it was like to be transported to and jailed in Australia in the 1800s. Internationally acclaimed classic written in 1894.

So far as I understand (not being Australian), this book is pretty much the national novel of Australia. It's a wonderful read and I recommend it very highly. Don't worry, the author is long since dead so this isn't a friend or relative pumping the book. It really is very good. Why it's listed under "essays" (which is how I found it) I have no idea
