A Texas Girl is like a tree
Powered by the sun
Let me stand in the summer heat
That burns
A Texas girl in the winter dies
Let me stand on the cracked earth
The sting of the red ants awakening
My dead heart
Readying my feet
To run
The Texas sun
Kills the week,
The green
But brown
Is the Texas girl
I’m living off the sun.
