but then I discovered the book was over 1000pp. That's too much for me. With my luck I would start the book and die and never know how it ended.

I used to think nothing of reading 1000 page books. Maybe I'm just too old and now steer clear of them, although there still are a few Ken Follet books I will read soon.

I just pulled my copy, the one with BBC related cover, to give to the FOL. I would read it again on my Kindle. Soooo much lighter in weight.
