This book is amazing. Ruxin's heart for the Rwandan people and for humanity, in general, shines through. In his work, he never forgets that the ultimate outcome is self-sufficiency and self-respect. Included in the story is his love story with his wife and the fact that they have a family in what is often perceived as one of the darkest areas on earth. Ruxin does tell the story of many of the people who he encounters and their stories are very difficult to hear, but there is always a belief that their future will be positive.
If I have one complaint about this book it is when he writes in second person (you will). This is done in the first couple chapters of the book, but once past those chapters, his writing flows.
Ruxin's vision is amazing. I would love to meet him and his wife. His zeal is infectious.
I received this book through a goodreads.com contest with the expectation of a fair/unbiased review.
