Very good book. Second book in the series about Jesus. Can't wait to read the third.

This author has a real gift for bringing scripture to life. Although the Bible doesn't mention Jesus' young manhood, she has written a story that is both believable and timeless. Highly recommended.

Marjorie Holmes does such a wonderful job with this series. She uses information from historical research from the time period and weaves a story that makes the characters come to life. Wonderful book.

Three From Galilee follows the life of Jesus Of Nazareth from boyhood to young man (ages from 12-30 were not even mentioned in the Bible). His story includes his parents, siblings and extended family; we follow him into school and to work, from field to temple. He struggles with and yet anticipates his destiny. He and his parents question their faith: is he truly the Messiah or just a simple man of flesh? Ms. Holmes is a gifted writer; her beautiful words are worthy of the subject. For instance:

This book contains one sentence that really struck me as particularly beautiful. In the springtime, Jesus observes and appreciates the beauty of a field of flowers of every imaginable color. The author writes: "The fingers of God had embroidered the earth like a tapestry and scented it with his headiest perfumes." It is stunning prose like this that makes this book so fluid, reverent and believable.

Now, in Three from Galilee, Holmes's fictionalized retelling of the life of Jesus covers a period overlooked by the Gospels-the "lost years" between age 12, when Jesus debated the elders in the temple, to the age of 30, when he actually began his ministry. With great reverence, she dares to wonder what Jesus did during those years, if he was like other young men of his time, and whether he experienced God's greatest gift to humanity-love. Using her remarkable talents, Holmes brings Jesus, his parents, brothers, sisters, and friends to life in a story that is dramatic, deeply moving, and unforgettable.
