How is it possible that when the divine sets foot
On human skin, or behind sentient eyes
We shudder first, and then submit

My life hibernates inside my life
Waits until these bones start singing
Or can move with greater ease

My heart invokes the larger heart
Dives into calamity and joy with an equal fire
Abstains from nothing, ripens and ignites

This road reveals the road beneath
The dust and delicate arteries of the soil
A destination that rests in every step

Below the hearth, the desperate clay
Lays seeds inside my body, marks the seasons
Like the promise of a pulse, like poison

I long for you, you are the night
Your coarse, incredible stone of a life
Implores me, churns my breath into belief
