I wasn't certain what to expect when I ordered this novel from a friend. It was quite different from what I expected. However, I found that I liked the characters and the scenario. How can one believe that soldiers from WWII would appear sixty years later pursuing their military goals? However, this is fiction and anything can happen in fiction. Right? It's well done from start to finish and I quite liked it. Since this was my first read from this author I'll have to find the first novel, Devil's Den. Check it out for yourself!
I have to admit that time slip novels dont rank high on my reading list, nor do WWII settings. I like my history pre 1930. So what the heck am I doing reading this? Well having said that, I really loved Devils Den and was willing to give Time Fall a chance. Tim Ashby is a fine writer and I believe that this novel proves it. I was hooked from the moment I began to read it. I could draw comparisons to a few novels but I wont, this one deserves to stand on its own merit.
One of Mr. Ashbys strengths is his research, and his knowledge of the period and subject matter. His ability to weave the past and present is not only realistic, and engaging, he brings real heart to his work.
It is a first rate military thriller and dont let the time slip element throw you. I cant wait to see what Ashby does next. 4 stars!
I would like to thank the publishers for my review copy.
