Their was a movie made from this book - same title, starred Andy Griffith. I saw the movie recently and it was fun. But once you read the book the movie is but a pale and incomplete replica. Truly funny. Max Hyman wrote this when he was broke and re-enlisting in the Air Force so the story really bears the stamp of reality. Well worth reading.
