One of several things I like about mystery authors of the early 20th century is they didn't feel they had to fill four to five hundred pages to tell you a good story.

This is a new author for me and I'm going to look for more of his books. And I'm actually amazed I've never read him before, as Wikipedia states, "He wrote more than six hundred novels using twenty-eight different pseudonyms." His first was published in 1932. After a search on Book Browser, I found a number of them are posted on PBS.

But it's always possible I read at least one of his books written under one of his 28 pseudonyms.
