I can't believe it took me so long to discover this author. Now I want to read everything she has written.
Great sequel to Desert Heat!
It took over 100 pages for the main character to show up, but after that it read fast and good.
J.A.Jance is awsome i love everything she writes. This is the second novel featuring Joanna Brady it takes place in Arizona. A recent widow, her lawman husband has been killed, she contines on as single mother and newly elected sheriff. Joanna is engaging and credible.
This is the second in the Joanna Brady series, and as good as the first!
Exciting murder mystery
A Joanna Brady mystery. The second in the series. Easy read. I enjoyed it.
j.a.jance pleases me everytime.
I enjoyed this 2nd book in the series. Different, but good.
The Joanna Bray Mysteries series are all real page turners!
Second book in the series
The story of how Joanna Brady becomes elected to Sheriff. Wonderful story that includes some twists and turns. Great introduction (Book #2) and good to read this series in order, but definitely not necessary. Highly recommend.
Very good book. Fast moving.
Brand new Sheriff barely elected, must solve a grisly double homicide - two bodies baking in harsh Southwestern sun are connected by sinister threads reaching back generations....tearing two sisters apart.
Good follow-up to the first book.
the continuing growth of the main character as she deals with life and work is interesting. Mysteries in the book are realistic and solved realistically
Sheriff Joanna Brady, has various dealing with solving crimes and murders in Cochise County, AZ.
It felt a little slow to get going, but since the reader kind of knows what's going to happen there's tension while it builds up. I like the setting and how Joanna is going to make her way as the new sheriff. I can believe the motive for the murder and the method is certainly a time-honored one in mysteries, even if a bit far-fetched.
Good second entry in the Joanna Brady series. This is the followup to Desert Heat where at the end, Joanna is considering running for sheriff of Cochise County, Arizona. In this volume, she is elected sheriff but her lack of experience makes it very hard for her to assume a leadership position, especially since one of her main deputies was campaigning for another person during the election. Then once she gets elected, she has a double murder on her hands, one of which occurred many years before. The current murder is of a local rancher who is accused by his daughter of molestation when she was young. But is that what really happened? Joanna is really feeling her way in this one and along the way makes some key mistakes in law enforcement but with a little help is able to come to the right conclusions. At the end, she is enrolled in a law enforcement course to help her in her duties and responsibilities. The next novel should provide more details...looking forward to it!
With grit, courage and dogged determination Joanna challenged the status quo---and won. Now as newly elected Sheriff of ochise county, arizona, she must battle the prejudice and hostility of a mistrustful male dominated police force---and solve a grisly double homicide that threatens to tear the sleepy desert community to pieces. For the two bodies baking in the harsh southwestern sun are connected by sinister threads that reach back generations---and by devasting family secrets of greed, hatred and shocking abuse that could destroy the innocent along with the guilty.
