Have any of you guys watched this? Its a scifi show on BBCAmerica. Until today I hadnt really thought of it as LGBTQ fiction but the main character Captain Jack Harkness is gay. There was such a sweet scene on this weeks episode near the end. Him and the real Captain Jack (he took his identity after he died in WWII) have such a great moment near the end. It was so sweet. TW Jack and Tosh go back in time to WWII Wales. The real Captain Jack takes TW Captain Jack to the dance floor and they dance so sweetly and then before TW Captain Jack has to go back to the present day they kiss. TW Jack knows that the real Jack is going to die the next day so he sorta says the hell with it and goes for it. I was oohing and ahing and oh how sweeting through the whole thing. PS TW Jack is Torchwood Jack. The one that takes the real Captain Jacks identity. |

It repeats Tuesday night. There are episodes on other cable channels as well. The dance scene at the end was very sweet and well done. TWJack knows Jack is going to die the next day, so he encourages Jack to kiss his girlfriend goodbye, even though he is not really in love with her. This backfires as the girlfriend was taking off, but now she believes Jack loves her and she confesses her love for him. Emboldened, Jack takes TW Jack aside and indicates to him that the girl is not who he is interested and takes TWJack's hand. Just then a straight couple enters the room and interrupts the moment. Jack thinks TW Jack's being startled means he is not interested. TW Jack is being rescued by his crew. As he steps back into the rift, he says to hell with it and slow dances with Jack. He begins to walk away and then puts his arms around Jack and kisses him for a long while. It is very sweet. I really think that TW Jack is bi or at least ambiguous. I don't think he'll have a real love interest for a while. BTW the actor playing TWJack is gay and just had a commitment ceremony with his partner of 16 years. |

Love this show - DP & I have watched the whole first season. I don't know if the present day Jack is gay - I'd say he's more bi. And he's not the only one on the show that is...:-) And the dance scene had me in tears - it was so well done. |

I haven't seen all of Torchwood, but Captain Jack is bisexual. I was just watching his first appearance in Doctor Who (the show Torchwood is spun off from) - he's all over both the Doctor and Rose. (SPOILER: and doesn't he get somewhat involved with Gwen later in Torchwood?) |

Jack has a thing going with Ianto. I believe his character is bi...speaking of Jack on Dr. Who...anyone see that mind bending realization of who Jack is at the end of last season? ....blew my mind. I think in almost every episode of Torchwood one of the characters has a same sex scene...Toshinko had a thing with an alien woman, Owen picked up a woman at a bar and when her boyfriend came after them he asked him to join them. I think Gwen might be the only one who hasn't picked up a woman. |

Nope Gwen had a thing with an alien girl on her first day on the job. Heavy petting and making out mostly. I must have missed an episode cause I didnt catch the bit with Owen. Oh and I was a staunch anti Dr Who person for a long time cause the remake could never be as good as the origional but I guess Im gonna hafta watch now to catch up on Jack. |

Russell Davies planned it so that all of the team members would have same-sex kisses in the first season. Torchwood is the best show on TV right now. It's better than new Who, and I have a hard time accepting that! :) |

Chris, sometimes the new Who is horrible (the ending of the third season, for example - I'm not going to go into details but it was a very stupid one) but other parts are amazing (the Doctor, Rose, Jack, and Mickey interactions). I've only started to watch the old serials (mostly the fourth doctor, but I also like the seventh and Ace). |

The ending of the last season was where the big revelation about Jack was revealed! I sat there with my mouth openned stunned. It was quick and if you aren't a fan of Dr. Who you might not understand it but it was a really great way to tie the two shows together. If someone watched it and didn't catch it you can PM me and I will try to explain it. |
