Got a book today, the back cover has a crease with a tear. I've read the guidlines and (correct me if I'm wrong) I believe a one inch tear is acceptable. This tear is exactly one inch. So my question....How do I mark this received and what happens to the next person that requests it from me? Should I attempt to get a credit back, Do I not repost? I'm fairly new to PBS and haven't had any problems, so I'm a little confused. TIA |

I'm new also so I may not be the best person to answer, but if the book meets the basic guidelines then I'd mark the book received (no problem). One inch tears are acceptable and I can't find anything about creases listed in the rules. It sounds like the book meets the standards set here. |

From what you've described the book meets posting guidelines. As long as the tear doesn't get bigger you can repost it. There are no guidelines on creases. If you feel better about *not* posting it, you can offer it free with an order from your shelf in the book bazaar section of the forum. I know how you feel - I gave away a book with a badly creased cover (to a friend) because I didn't want to post it here, but technically it was postable. Welcome to PBS! |

It sounds fine to have gotten to me. Enjoy the book and welcome! |

It sounds like the book was postable. I would affix a small amount of tape to keep the tear from getting worse. You can repost the book as long as the tear doesn't get bigger. |

Well, if it's exactly 1" and it's 1" that's acceptable(I though it was 1/2", you might want to double check), I guess it's okay, and should be marked received without a problem. |

IMO, the book should simply be marked RCD. It met PBS guidelines when posted to you. Now, for my one of my personal reminder crusades: Every book must eventually reach a final poster. At no point are we promised that every book we receive will be able to be reposted. This is a book swapping site; we are simply fortunate that we are often able to use it as a lending library. (Just another PSA from my another of my personal reminder crusades. : ) |
