I picked-up this book because I really liked the cover and I wanted to see if the contents lived up to the cover. Well, my $7.99 roll of the dice paid off and I have a new favorite sci-fy series.

Marketing Manager Katherine Kitty Katt joins forces with gorgeous (and brainy) aliens to protect planet Earth, kick evil alien butt and save the day with classic rock and a secret weapon favored by David Lee Roth, Vince Neil and Brett Michaels.

Just as every rose has its thorns, this Kitty has claws and knows how to use them. The action starts right on page one: after being dismissed from jury duty, Kitty witnesses a domestic dispute outside the courthouse that turns deadly when a man kills his wife then sprouts wings and turns on the crowd. Much to her surprise, Kitty goes on autopilot grabbing the Mont Blanc pen from her purse as she tackles the otherworldly creature to the ground and dispatches him with said pen by instinctively knowing precisely where to land the fatal blow. Immediately following her hero-stint, Kitty is whisked away by uber-hunky Armani-clad agents who take her to home base in New Mexico where they inform her that aliens really do exist and that she has a job-offer killing them.

Touched By An Alien is a very funny book that breaks the rules on the genre clichés; instead of a blushing 21-24 year old orphan almost-virgin who is unaware of her beauty and is a social outcast, weve got a confident but not cocky 28 year old marketing manager who lost her virginity in high school (please do not tell her father who is alive and married to her mother), and who has a healthy relationship with her parents and a network of close and loyal friends. Meaning that Kittys life doesnt begin with her new fantastic feats but rather, her life moves onto a new and evolving phase which I personally found to be a refreshing change of pace for a heroine of urban fantasy/science fiction.

This is a fun, charming and fast-paced read that has me giggling out loud. This is not realistic nitty-gritty sci-fy but more of an Alien-Earthling soap opera and its a lot of fun. Gini Kochs style is a bit cheeky, so while the story gets a bit over the top, you know its written with a wink and a nudge to the reader. The second book in the series Alien Tango is set for release in December 2010 and Ive already preordered (and not just because I like the cover).

Laugh out loud funny. In comics most of time when someone gets super powers they use their powers for good. Not in this series.

When a man suddenly sprouts wings and starts killing people with razor sharp feathers, around the courthouse where our heroine, Kitty has just finished jury duty, she doesn't stand around screaming while waiting to be shredded. She fights back, attacking with her Mont Blanc pen, a gift from her father. Then shows up Jeffrey Martini, literally just shows up one second no one is next to her then Jeff is standing there in all his Armani clad elegance. It seems all good aliens wear Armani, not that Kitty knows anything about aliens yet, but she's going to learn.

Thus starts the roller-coaster ride of Touched by an Alien complete with hairspray weapons, smart female alien scientists, and good parental relationships, and humungous fungy monsters. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end.

I knew that I was going to love or hate this book just from reading the summary. I loved it. Kitty and Jeff are great together. Kitty is smart, witty and brave. She makes good choices and knows when to back down.

Jeff was great. I didn't think the author would be able to develop a relationship between the two of them that fast but she pulled it off.

This book was a great combination of fluff, action, and romance. I can't wait to read the next one.

I really enjoyed the heck out of this book! It's got everything: aliens, monsters, adventure, action, romance, sex, and it's a lot of fun to read! This was one of those books that kept me coming back whenever I had even a small amount of time to read!
Some readers may think the lead character, Katherine "Kitty" Katt has a smart mouth, but you know? It's a fantasy science fiction story! Underline the word fiction, here. I figure if you don't like the book, don't read it! The author, in my book, has a great sense of humor, and allows it to come out in her writing. Would that I could write that that!
I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a good, fun, fast reading sci-fi/fantasy story!
I give it an A+

Winner!!
So this book was fun! It kicked off with action and more action. This was perfectly escapist for all the shit going down right now in the US.
In other time I might have been annoyed with Kitty. While she has some flaws and was honest, she also was a little too perfect (being able to able a gun without practice, hang upside down, and other feats of strength) and knew exactly what to do most of the time. But honestly, I really, really didn't care. Go Kitty! I enjoyed all the secondary characters and loved the humor. There was a little bit of a love triangle (but didn't last long). Kitty fell a little too fast for Jeff (days), but what the hey? I really didn't care. Kitty's family (both human and animal) was hilarious.
