From the back cover: "As the Civil War ends, a young woman suffers an accident that leaves her unconscious and alone. Waking up with amnesia, she takes the name Mercy because of the mercy medallion found around her neck. More than anything, Mercy wants to find out the truth of her past, but when the town's most eligible bachelor comes courting, she decides to look instead to the future. Life seems filled with promise until a handsome stranger comes into town, a man who knows her history...and something that could destroy her."

I wasn't sure about this story in the beginning, but I was enthralled a couple chapters into the book. I don't want to spoil anything about the story line, but this book really surprised me with the ending. It isn't the usual boy meets girl, falls in love and live happily ever after. Mercy's character will have you wondering what is going to happen next. There are parts that will have you on the edge of your seat wondering if something is going to change...your hoping at least. The ending of this book has me wanting the next book in my hands so that I can continue with the storyline. It was really a good read and I can't wait for the next book.

I recieved this book for free through www.goodreads.com in exchange for my honest opinion.
