In Tracker Cherryh continues the complexity of the story she began so long ago with Foreigner. I feel she is the best writer of non-human societies in the field and I love the way she brings the complexity of the alien societies and human interactions to life. And that she recognizes the reality of continuing pitfalls, misunderstanding, etc in the long run. Happily-ever-after simplicity is not part of this world as it is not in real life. Her characters continue to be complex beings with motivations she makes plain. I only wish Bren's relationship with Jago had a more prominent place.
