Extremely well written and a solid plot. It indicates that the confusions of same-sex orientation is not new to our culture.

Overall, good, engaging characters, great background.

I have mixed feelings about the book. I liked it, but at the same time felt distracted by the differing directions. The beginning was good, and although It wasn't a page turner, it did keep me coming back for more. The ending was good, appropriate for the plot

A lot of books have character angst. This is where you 'hear' the inner dialog of one of the characters as they fall in love. I find angst terribly annoying. This book had a lot of that -

The setting and "historical fiction" background was interesting and enjoyable.

As for triggers Some non-consensual sex (cult like behavior and brainwashing) the background is a war, and of course war is violent. There are some sex scenes, but they are not as explicit as many romance books. (Its not erotica by any stretch, but it does have on camera acts.)
