Trauma Plan by Candace Calvert- book review.

This is the first in the Grace Medical series, by the author The Mercy Hospital series. Riley Hale is the Hospital ER chaplain, after a debilitating assault that injured her neck and recovery has been slow. She has a run in with the new ER Doc- Jack who is running a charity clinic that is being opposed by its wealthy neighbors in the Bluffs community.

As Riley tries to regain her health and her job as an ER nurse, Jack tries to help her in more ways that one. While hoping to get her familys funding for his clinic and her friendship, he offers her a position at the clinic so she can practice her nursing skills. This relationship has its ups and downs as each deals with burdens from the past.

Wonderful story of hope, help and healing. Christian faith and values shine through this story in the lives of characters. Great novel to take on vacation or for reading while waiting for the kids baseball practice.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of the book from Tyndale publishing. All opinions expressed are my own.

I love this story! Complex plot and subplots. Great characters--both primary and secondary. Well-written. Excellent medical drama.

Riley is injured in an assault and is now a trauma chaplain at a hospital. But she wants to be an ER nurse again. Jack is a doctor who runs a community clinic for needy patients that the rich neighbors would love to get rid of. The two meet at the hospital and work at the clinic together, and also try to solve an old crime.

I thought this was an excellent book about the medical field. The story is well-written and the mystery was interesting. I'm looking forward to the author's next book.

Pulse-pounding fiction!

From the medical details, to the romance, to the romantic balcony dinner and even the skies for a quick dive, this book packs more than one wallop.

Sooo smooth the only word I can think of to describe the writing. There isnt a single stuttering moment, the story uber-comfortable to slip into and hard to leave.

Jack is the quintessential rugged hero. Not afraid to tackle any challenge, determined to climb any mountain that gets in his way, hes the character that is driven and in turn drives.
To watch the romance between Jack and Riley is a wonderful thing. Riley in her cautiousness and fears, but with strength to her core, just begging to be discovered. Opposites that bring out the good in the other.

I wanted Riley to see her dream realized, she longed to get back into the ER so badly, but sometimes where we are is right where God wants us to be.

Having a part-time job in the medical field, I had to smile at the new details I now know and can appreciate, but dont let that scare the unknown from such a novel topic. Its written in such a way (again, gotta go back to *smooth*) that the reader smack in the middle of the action.

Being a lover of those ER scenes, I wanted a few more, but top to bottom the novel is a great one. Secondary characters that I look forward to seeing again in coming novels, plot that is thick with layers and main characters that rise to every challenge. Againsmooth.

This review is my honest opinion. Thanks to the publishers through Netgalley for my advance copy to review.
