I wasn't sure if I'd like a series taken place back during the gold rush days, but I found this book to be very well written. I love how it ministers to your heart through the characters. If you haven't read this, get all three of them because you won't want to stop once you read the first one.

This Tracie Peterson book describes the journey of a sheltered young woman whose world is rocked by an abusive arranged fiance. She travels North to Alaska with friends. There are lessons in faith and perseverance interwoven with themes of romance and history. This looks like the prequel to later well loved Tracie Peterson stories about the beloved character Leah and her family. Leah and her brother appear here as minor characters as children.
