Twilight Phantasies was a yawn. Boring enough that I can't make myself read the next story in the book.

Maggie Shayne doesn't add anything new to the vampire genre. The vampires in this book sleep all day, can't handle sunlight, can only consume blood, and live a long time, blah blah blah. It is more interesting when an author delivers an insight or new fact about something that we think we already know.

The characters fall immediately in love, there is a lot of yearning but not much actual sex. There were some villainous bad guys who do evil things but the heroine seemed foolish and naive to believe in the bad guys so long.

Overall a disappointing introduction to this author of what appears to be a very popular series.

This book is 2 stories in 1: If you follow Maggie Shayne's Twilight Vampire Series, then these two stories started it all:
"Twilight Phantasies"- For centuries Eric Marquand has walked the shadows, accepting that fate has condemned him to the dark life of the undead. Then he meets the woman he knows is his chosen one, Tamara Day is his destiny. And though his life is eternally ebtwined with hers, he knows to possess her would destroy her...
"Twilight Memories" - A dangerous mortal bent on eliminating vampires is after Rhiannon, and knows Roland de Courtemanche is her weakness. Despite Roland's refusal of her affections, Rhiannon will risk everything to protect him, even if it means suffering a rejection more devastating than a stake through her heart.

2 Vampire novels in one book...interesting story line, but I couldn't get past the first 80 pages because it was way too sexual for my taste.

Great start to a promising series, this book has two stories, first on is about Eric Marquand and a woman that he saved wen she was a child of 6 years of age. Now she is a grown woman but having issues with her sleep, he health and her over protective guardian. Eric is connected to Tamera mentally and feels her anguish in her dreams but he fights to ease her discomfort. One night he couldnt fight and had to see her but she saw him that night and hasnt gotten him out of her mind. No matter what her guardian and his government agent partner tells her she will follow her own heart. Eric with the help from Roland (the man that saved his life many times but also is his vampire sire & close friend) help Tamera overcome her stress and help her become who she is meant to be, and for her to help with a preteen boy that she cares about like a brother and him being thrown in to a mess with the DPI and their quest to take out vampires.
The second story is about Roland (Eric's friend) and is trying to keep Jamey (the boy Tamera is close to) from harm of the DPI but form a Curtis Rogers that is looking for revenge on Tamera, Eric and also Roland but he never included dealing with a woman that his body and heart wanted since he was mortal, the one that changed his life. Rhiannon is hoping to help Roland keep the boy safe from harm no matter what Roland said or does, she is there no matter what to find away to eliminate the threat of DPI and of Curtis Rogers that followed Roland form the States to his castle in Paris. She never thought her heart would come in question towards the recluse of a man Roland but through out their story she and Roland will fight but being the Egyptian Princess that she is she will not detour from her quest to make Roland hers and only hers no matter how much Roland fights to push her away, until he utters the same words her father uttered to her when she was a very young child, 'She is his curse' in her fathers case she was the firstborn and a girl and he didnt lover her, in Roland's case he is to believe he has bloodthirsty demon in his soul and no one is safe from him and his rage.
