While this book reads more like nonfiction than fiction, I did end up taking an interest in the lives of the different characters. However, I did not like the book that much, because I felt like it was talking to teens. The book was deeper than I expected, but it had a rather somber tone, maybe even depressing.

I am not sure if this book should be considered teen fiction, since it is written from an adult perspective / voice. Teens will probably find this book either thought-provoking or too didactic.
