Mahoney is an ex-cop, and that shows in his writing. It is perfunctory; as though you're reading a report, and it failed to draw me in. Still, it's an intriguing plot, for anyone less picky about the narrative.

The Chinatowns of New York City and Toronto are the North American headquarters for a worldwide criminal network.Detective Cisco Sanchez of the NYPD is brash and cocky, and is also one of their best detectives. Teamed with his partner Brian McKenna, Cisco has to battle departmental rivalries, vicious street killers, and financiers as corrupt as they are connected to follow the investigation around the globe and all the way to the top of Hong Kong's organized crime world.
